Launch of the Ioniq 5
Today, Hyundai officially unveiled the Ioniq 5, a mid-size CUV, during a virtual event. This marks Hyundai's first-ever electric crossover battery electric vehicle (BEV), establishing the Ioniq 5 as a pioneer in shaping the future of electric mobility with advanced and sustainable features.
Design and Performance of the Ioniq 5
The Ioniq 5 is built on Hyundai Motor’s dedicated BEV platform, known as the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which allows for unique dimensions with a long wheelbase. This system enables the Ioniq 5 to feature an innovative interior design made from eco-friendly materials, offering strong performance coupled with ultra-fast charging and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities. Advanced connectivity features and driver assistance ensure an unparalleled in-car experience prioritizing safety, comfort, and smooth driving.

Power and Performance Options
The Ioniq 5 comes with various electric powertrain (PE) systems to meet diverse customer mobility needs while maintaining a high level of advanced performance across all variants.
Battery and Motor Options
Customers can choose between two battery pack options: either 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh. Additionally, there are two configurations for the electric motor, either a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, with all PE variants offering impressive range and a top speed of 185 km/h.
Superior Performance
The Ioniq 5 also features different electric motor configurations, including an AWD option with the 72.6 kWh battery, producing 225 kW of power and 605 Nm of torque. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds. In the dual-wheel drive (2WD) version with the 72.6 kWh battery, the maximum driving range on a single charge is approximately 470 to 480 km, according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).
Advanced Charging Technologies
The E-GMP platform of the new Ioniq 5 supports both 400V and 800V charging infrastructure. The platform enables 800V charging capability as standard, along with 400V charging, without the need for additional components or converters. The multi-charging system is the first patented technology in the world that boosts 400V to 800V for stable charging compatibility.
Fast and Efficient Charging
The Ioniq 5 can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW charger. Users only need to charge the Ioniq 5 for five minutes to gain 100 kilometers of range, according to WLTP standards.
V2L Charging Functionality
The innovative V2L charging function of the Ioniq 5 allows customers to effortlessly charge any electric devices, such as e-bikes, scooters, or camping equipment, effectively serving as a charger on wheels.
Availability
The Ioniq 5 will be available in select markets starting in the first half of this year.
