Hyundai’s Strategic Focus on Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology

Pioneering Fuel Cell Vehicles: From Santa Fe to NEXO
In 2013, Hyundai introduced its first FCEV, the Santa Fe Fuel Cell, marking the world’s first mass-produced fuel cell electric vehicle. This milestone initiated a new era for Hyundai’s fuel cell innovation, with the technology later featured in several models such as the NEXO, which was developed based on the FE Fuel Cell concept.

Fuel Cell Vision 2030: Hyundai’s Roadmap for the Hydrogen Society
In December 2018, Hyundai Motor Company unveiled its "Fuel Cell Vision 2030"—a long-term roadmap reflecting its ongoing commitment to accelerating the development of a hydrogen-powered society. This ambitious plan targets an annual production capacity of 700,000 fuel cell systems by 2030, not only for vehicles but also for non-automotive sectors such as ships, trains, drones, and power generators.
