Introduction
Infiniti Motor Company has announced its development of a completely new electric vehicle design platform, inspired by the distinctive Q Inspiration concept car. Infiniti plans to utilize this platform to produce an electric vehicle as part of a broader initiative to launch five new models in China over the next five years.
Statements from Infiniti's President
During a special event at the China International Auto Show, Ron Kluger, Chairman and Global President of Infiniti, stated:
"Infiniti is developing a new electric vehicle platform inspired by the Q Inspiration concept, which showcases a new design language for an era of vehicles equipped with automated driving technologies and electric powertrains. China has always been in our minds throughout the design journey of Q Inspiration, leading to the creation of a performance-enhanced electric sports concept with significantly larger interior space."
Exterior Design
The exterior of the Q Inspiration clearly reflects the next step in Infiniti's design evolution, featuring sharp and precise lines with dynamic and confident dimensions. This vehicle is the first embodiment of Infiniti's new design language for a progressive era of powertrains, deviating from classic sedan styles and leaning more towards coupe-like designs with elongated bodies that represent Infiniti's vision for this segment.
Interior Design
The Q Inspiration cabin follows a simplistic approach, presenting a sleek and minimalist interior design that embraces both driver and passengers in a comfortable and serene environment. Advanced powertrains have liberated Infiniti's designers from the constraints of traditional engineering, enhancing interior space. Modern technology seamlessly blends with craftsmanship in the cockpit, enhancing the driver's control without distracting from the driving experience.
Prototype 9
Infiniti also highlighted its distinctive Prototype 9, an electric roadster inspired by 1940s racing cars, handcrafted and featuring a battery and experimental electric motor from Nissan's advanced powertrain division.
Commenting on the Prototype 9, Kluger remarked, "The Prototype 9 emerged as a unique idea and evolved into a stunning prototype. Our teams have demonstrated their expertise in manufacturing, engineering, designing, and developing powertrains, while also incorporating traditional craftsmanship into the project; they relied on their skills to bring the Prototype 9 to life. The Prototype 9 merges modern technology with meticulously crafted details reminiscent of Infiniti's heritage."
