Introduction
BMW enthusiasts will be excited to learn that the company is now offering the B7 xDrive. This model is expected to be available for sale in September as a 2017 model. It will be officially unveiled at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show.
Car Review
Current B7 xDrive
The current B7 xDrive boasts an impressive power of 540 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. However, with the launch of the Mercedes S63 AMG producing 577 horsepower and the Audi S8 Plus with 605 horsepower, BMW recognized it was time to respond. Their response is the latest B7 xDrive.
B7 xDrive Engine
The new model features a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 600 horsepower. This engine is the same as that in the 750i, which produces 445 horsepower. The new car's torque reaches 590 lb-ft and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Vehicle Performance
These figures suggest that performance metrics will also be outstanding. Some reports indicate it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, making this luxury sedan faster than most sports cars. Its top speed reaches approximately 193 mph.
Handling and Technology
In terms of handling, the B7 xDrive features an air suspension system similar to that found in the 7 Series, coupled with all-wheel drive. The suspension system adjusts according to the driving mode; at high speeds, the vehicle lowers by about 8 inches, enhancing dynamic control.
Interior Design
Inside, you'll find the same luxurious cabin as the 7 Series, complemented by BMW's renowned technology. However, Alpina offers a unique leather interior option with distinctive designs for the dashboard and steering wheel.
