The Jaguar F Type is the British marque’s answer to the likes of the Audi R8 (see prices and specs), Mercedes-AMG GT S (see prices and specs), and the Porsche 911 Turbo (see prices and specs). Blaringly loud, hair-raisingly fast, and jaw-droppingly seductive, it’s everything an exotic car should be and more.

Exterior
The spiritual successor to the iconic E Type and dimensionally the smallest model to be a part of the brand’s line-up since 1954, the Jaguar F Type 2016 is nothing short of a stylistic masterpiece. Styled to exude aggression and turn heads, the F Type is resplendent and embellished with intricate styling along its aluminum bodywork.
Finished in a Storm Grey hue, the F-Type’s silhouette is an aerodynamic marvel and comes across as muscular yet elegant. Accentuating its appearance, are a set of 20-inch Storm alloy wheels, yellow brake calipers, and an operatic set of quad tailpipes piercing out of the rear diffuser.

Interior
Oozing with opulence, the interior of the Jaguar F-Type is dressed in a combination of supple stitched leather and carbon fiber. Built around the driver, the cockpit is ergonomically designed and catered to delivering a sublime driving experience – something it undoubtedly accomplishes.
But for all its sporting pretentions, the F Type hasn’t bartered its practicality. Offering 408 liters of storage space, in comparison to 112 liters, 125 liters, and 350 liters from the Audi R8, Porsche 911, and Mercedes AMG GT-S respectively, not only is the Brit mighty practical, but supremely comfortable too.

Safety & Features
To match its performance on the road, the Jaguar F Type is bestowed with several safety features including, four airbags, intelligent high beams, a reverse traffic detection system, blind spot detection, and an emergency brake assist system.
On the technological front, the F Type is equipped with an ambient lighting system, a 12-speaker 770W Meridian audio system, and a handy InControl Remote App that allows control of the F Type through a smartphone, no not in that Pierce Brosnan’s Tomorrow Never Dies sort of way.

Drive
The 5.0-liter Supercharged V8 engine that resides under the hood, produces an extremely healthy 550 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. The product of great attention to detail, the F Type 2016 bears an ideal 50/50 weight distribution with the washer fluid bottle and battery located in the rear, and a phenomenal power-to-weight ratio of 256 hp per ton.
With the accelerator pedal depressed into the foot well, the Jaguar F Type R hits the 100 km/h mark in an eyewatering 4.1 seconds before continuing to its 300 km/h top speed - all while emitting a ferocious growl from its protruding tail pipes, of course. Complimented by a set of 398mm and 380mm Carbon Ceramic discs at the front and rear that allow tarmac rippling stops, the F Type is something that is best experienced, rather than described.
Mated to a ZF gearbox that provides 8 rapid-changing cogs, the F Type’s stiff suspension set-up is the ideal match for the brutal and sports-car-shaming performance that it delivers. With the supercharger ever ready to attack, hoonigan antics are always just a dip of the accelerator pedal away.

Verdict
Out to alter perceptions, Jaguar’s F Type is a performance coupe dedicated to the performance enthusiasts who are in search of an unadulterated driving experience. With swooping curves and a firecracker exhaust note, its subtlety and understated approach are ironically all it requires to stand out.
