2017 Mercedes E-Class: The Intelligent Executive Sedan

Introduction to the 2017 Mercedes E-Class
Mercedes has launched the all-new 2017 E-Class in the Middle East. Dirk Fetzer, Vice President & Director, Sales & Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars, stated, “The E-Class is the core of our brand, and in the past has repeatedly redefined the standards in the executive-class segment. Now it carries this tradition into the future with a wealth of top-class innovations that take safety, stress relief, and comfort to a new level. It is without doubt the most intelligent sedan in the executive class.”
Exterior Design
The exterior of the 2017 E-Class resembles the S-Class and the C-Class. Mercedes has adopted a design strategy similar to that of BMW and Audi, ensuring that all its sedans maintain a distinct brand identity while differing in dimensions. This approach not only reinforces brand recognition but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of each model.
Key features of the exterior include:
- New 9-speed automatic transmission for improved fuel efficiency and smoother gear changes.
- Standard chassis settings akin to other Mercedes models.
- Optional air-suspension, a first in the segment, available in the E-Class.
Interior Innovations
The interior of the 2017 E-Class focuses on luxury and technology, resembling the S-Class more than the C-Class. In fact, many critics argue that the interior surpasses that of the S-Class in terms of design and functionality.
Notable interior features include:
- Dual 12.3” displays that debut in the E-Class.
- Touch controls replacing traditional steering buttons – a world first.
- Advanced safety systems such as PRE-SAFE, Drive Assist, Brake Assist, and Drive Pilot, showcasing Mercedes’ commitment to autonomous driving.
