The newest entrant into MG’s line-up, set to go on sale from January 2018, the RX5 is available in two trims and two engines, with prices starting at approximately SAR 53,000.

Speaking at its show reveal in Jeddah, Mr. Tom Lee, Managing Director of SAIC Motor Middle East, stated:

As MG strengthens its presence across the Middle East, we believe that this new compact SUV possesses all the attributes to push the brand to the front of mind of the region’s car buyers.”
Design and Space
The futuristic exterior design, featuring 18-inch dual-tone alloys and sharp contours, is complemented by an equally impressive cabin. Highlights include:
- Chrome garnishes
- Soft-touch materials
- Best-in-class space
- Full-length panoramic roof
Practicality is enhanced with rear leg space and head space measuring 982mm and 987mm respectively, surpassing most rivals in its segment.
Technology and Infotainment
The MG RX5 is equipped with a smartphone application that allows drivers to:
- Remotely start and stop the air-conditioning system
- Track the vehicle
- Book aftersales appointments with service centers across the region
Additionally, the compact SUV offers:
- A 10.4-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay on the 2.0T variant
- An 8.0-inch screen with navigation on the 1.5T
Performance
The MG RX5 delivers impressive performance with:
- 1.5-liter turbocharged engine: 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
- 2.0-liter engine: 221 horsepower and 350 Nm, utilizing a six-speed automatic transmission, accelerating to 100 km/h in an impressive 8.2 seconds.
