Performance and Powertrain
The NIO EL8 comes with a dual-motor AWD system producing around 536 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Acceleration is smooth yet powerful, propelling the SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds—quite brisk for a “6-seater family SUV.”
Equipped with two battery options, a 75 kWh and a 100 kWh pack, the EL8 can cover up to 510km on a single charge (WLTC). There are also 10, yes TEN, driving modes on offer.
Exterior Design
The EL8 features a commanding presence with its bold and streamlined design. Its clean lines and smooth contours create a modern, minimalist look. The front end includes slim LED headlights and a large grille that accentuates the SUV’s width. The rear is equipped with a distinctive LED light strip that runs the full width of the vehicle, giving it a sleek and futuristic appearance.
Luxurious Interior and Cutting-Edge Tech
Inside, the EL8 showcases NIO’s typical super-premiumness with premium materials used throughout. A large 12.8-inch touchscreen display provides an immersive infotainment experience, while the 9.8-inch digital instrument cluster keeps the driver informed. Additionally, the EL8 features NOMI, NIO’s AI-powered digital assistant, which responds to voice commands for a range of in-car functions.
An innovative heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system purifies the air, making it especially valuable in regions with high temperatures or dust. Features like wireless charging, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof are also on offer.
Charging Capabilities and Battery Swapping
The EL8 supports 180 kW DC fast charging, allowing it to recharge from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. Unique to NIO, battery swapping is available on the EL8, enabling owners to quickly replace a depleted battery with a fully charged one at NIO Power Swap Stations. This feature may soon be available in select international markets.
Safety and Advanced Driver Assistance
The EL8 includes the latest version of NIO Pilot, an advanced driver-assistance system that utilizes multiple sensors for autonomous features like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. Additional safety features include a reinforced frame, multiple airbags, and automated emergency braking, ensuring the protection of all occupants.
