Driving Experience of the New Haval H9
Introduction
Haval has recently launched in the UAE, bringing four new vehicles from China to the Emirati market. Historically, many people perceived Chinese products as cheap and low-quality; however, I can assure you that this brand defies that stereotype. The H9 is crafted with top-notch specifications, both externally and internally. As a seven-seater SUV, it truly deserves your attention.
Design and Exterior Appearance
The Haval H9 is the largest SUV produced by the company, and this is its prototype. I visited their new showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road to test the vehicle, eager to discover the features it offers.
Exterior Look
The exterior design of the H9 is still vivid in my mind. I believe they did an excellent job with the front end; the smart lines on the hood and the shape of the headlights make it look attractive. However, I wasn't a fan of the wide rear lights—of course, that's just my opinion, and I encourage you to see it for yourself to form your own judgment. Overall, the H9 has a beautiful appearance and a strong presence on the road.
Interior Design and Safety
The interior design is my favorite aspect of the vehicle. It feels as though you are sitting inside a more expensive car, comparable to a Range Rover or similar luxury models. The H9 I tested was fully equipped, and the technology inside kept me entertained for hours.
Main Features
- Engine: 2.0-liter turbocharged with direct injection
- Transmission: 6-speed automatic with manual integration
- Power: 220 horsepower / 324 Nm torque
- Top Speed: 200 km/h
- Price: 120,000 AED
Performance
The H9 is well-equipped for off-road driving, thanks to its smooth and soft suspension system that absorbs bumps and potholes effortlessly. One drawback of the suspension is that, despite its smoothness, you might feel a slight sense of unease during sharp turns. Therefore, I prefer to drive in sport mode most of the time.
Conclusion
Haval has done a commendable job with this vehicle, and I look forward to testing the rest of their 2016 lineup. Based on my experience, I would rate the Haval H9 a 3.5 out of 5; if it had slightly more power, I would give it a 4 out of 5.
