The Land Cruiser Prado might not be the Pride of the Land like its elder sibling – the Land Cruiser – but it is very much capable. Sure, it is not the most ideal choice in this price range but I assure you, this midsize SUV has what it takes to surprise you. Also, you will be able to get a high-spec trim if you are willing to spend about 200K AED on the Prado.
Since the new 2016 Land Cruiser is being sold at a price higher than 200,000 AED so by default, the Nissan Patrol is the undisputed choice in this category. Nissan Patrol is the ‘cool’ choice between the two desert heavyweights. Though it has become dated and needs a makeover soon, it is still the ideal choice given the budget and the terrain because everyone here loves offroading.
Let’s look at the American alternatives. The Chevrolet Tahoe has been the choice of transportation in this region (especially KSA) for large families. After all, look at the size of this car; it can carry the full load and then some. It might not be that offroad friendly as the other two but it can still go offroad easily due to that ground clearance. I would recommend this for large families.
There is the Land Cruiser and the Patrol for the mainstream offroading but if you really want hardcore offroading then the Wrangler is the undisputed king of all terrains. This thing is meant to tackle everything except the road. On the road, it is not smooth nor that powerful as compared to others but take it off the road and it is a beast. Also it has a second row of seats for your family.
I can’t leave the Germans if they are within the budget. Well, the most obvious choice is the Touareg. The Touareg is the perfect soccer mom car for grocery shopping and picking up kids from school. If offroading is not your thing and all you require is comfort and executive feel while going to a meeting, then the Touareg perfectly fits your budget.
