Tragic Incident in Al Ain
Following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of four individuals during street racing in Al Ain, police in the United Arab Emirates are warning drivers against reckless driving during the holy month of Ramadan. The accident, which occurred on the fourth day of Ramadan, involved two drivers competing against each other, leading to the tragic death of two women crossing the street in a designated area.
Penalties for Street Racing
The Abu Dhabi and Dubai police have announced that drivers participating in street racing will face fines up to 2,000 AED, receive 23 black points on their driving record, and have their vehicles impounded for 60 days.
Illegal Modifications to Vehicles
Under UAE traffic laws, it is also illegal to modify a vehicle's engine or body without proper approval. Individuals who modify their cars without obtaining permission will be fined 1,000 AED, receive 12 black points, and have their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
