Incident Details
The Umm Al-Quwain Police arrested a driver in the United Arab Emirates for exceeding the speed limit by driving at 225 km/h on one of the main highways, describing the behavior as reckless. The driver was detected by radar on Sheikh Zayed Road, traveling at a speed that exceeds the legal limit by more than 80 km/h. The police swiftly responded to apprehend the reckless driver and confiscate the vehicle.
Traffic Management Warnings
The Traffic and Patrols Department of the Umm Al-Quwain Police urged drivers to adhere to the designated speed limits and warned that speeding on roads can lead to serious injuries and dire consequences. In a statement issued by the police:
"We will not tolerate anyone committing such traffic violations. All legal measures will be taken against the driver."
Traffic Violation Penalties
Earlier this year, police in Abu Dhabi and Dubai launched a campaign to warn drivers about the dangers of illegal street racing. Those caught engaging in such activities will face fines of up to 2000 AED, receive 23 black points, and have their vehicles confiscated for 60 days. According to UAE traffic laws, it is also illegal to modify a vehicle's engine or chassis without prior approval.
