The Porsche Macan now comes with rear-wheel drive, setting a new standard for entry into the all-electric SUV lineup. This vehicle boasts an impressive combined WLTP range of up to 641 kilometers. The Macan 4S, with its potent 380 kW (516 PS) output, represents the upper echelon of this model series. Moreover, a new off-road design package is available across all Macan variants, alongside a comprehensive update to the Porsche Driver Experience.
Porsche has expanded its all-electric SUV range, doubling its offerings. The rear-wheel-drive Macan emphasizes efficiency and range, while the Macan 4S bridges the gap between the Macan 4 and the Macan Turbo.
Innovative Technology and Design
The 4S features the advanced Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system, which distributes power between the front and rear axles up to five times faster than traditional all-wheel-drive systems.
Porsche Macan: 100 kWh Battery and Efficient Power Electronics
The new entry-level Macan draws energy from a high-voltage 100 kWh battery. The rear-axle motor, identical to the one in the Macan 4, features a 210-millimeter diameter and 200-millimeter active length, delivering 250 kW (340 PS). A 480-amp pulse inverter (PWR) with silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors ensures high efficiency, reducing switching losses and allowing for higher frequencies.
With Launch Control, the Macan can achieve up to 265 kW (360 PS) and 563 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h. Without all-wheel drive, the Macan is 110 kilograms lighter than the Macan 4, requiring less electricity and achieving a combined WLTP range of up to 641 km.
Porsche Macan 4S: Power and Performance
The Macan 4S introduces a new rear-axle motor and a robust 600-amp SiC pulse inverter. The motor's dimensions are 230 millimeters in diameter and 150 millimeters in active length. Combined with the front-axle motor used in the Macan 4 and Turbo, the system produces 330 kW (448 PS), with overboost up to 380 kW (516 PS). Launch Control delivers a maximum torque of 820 Nm, propelling the 4S from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h and a combined WLTP range of up to 606 km.
Standard features include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for electronic damping control. Adaptive air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), and rear-axle steering further enhance performance and comfort.
Design and Aerodynamics
Both new models maintain the Macan's timeless, aerodynamic design (cw = 0.25). The 800-volt architecture of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) supports DC charging up to 270 kW, enabling the high-voltage battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 21 minutes at a suitable fast-charging station.
New Colors and Off-Road Design Package
A new exterior color, Slate Grey Neo, is now available for all Macan models, along with a 20-inch Macan S wheel. The new off-road design package enhances everyday usability, tackling rough terrain and steep inclines with ease. The front bumper's geometry increases the approach angle to 17.4 degrees (with the air suspension at a raised level). The package also increases ground clearance by 10 mm to 195 mm.
Offered in Vesuvius Grey or the exterior color, the package includes matching 21-inch off-road design wheels and painted side blades. Roof railings can be ordered in Black, Silver, or Turbonite (Turbo only).
Porsche Driver Experience
The Macan's electrification introduces a new display and control system, blending digital and analog elements. Features include a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster display, a 10.9-inch passenger display, a head-up display with augmented reality, and ambient lighting with a communication light.
The updated screen design includes an emotional welcoming animation, a modern look, and the new Themes app, allowing customization of display background colors and ambient lighting to match the exterior color, with twelve options available.
