Volkswagen Teramont Launch in Oman
Amidst the rocky mountains of Oman, Volkswagen Middle East unveils its eagerly anticipated SUV, the all-new Teramont. The Teramont is the largest and first-ever seven-seater SUV from the brand, built at the brand’s Tennessee plant. It faces stiff competition from the likes of the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, and Nissan Pathfinder.
Features and Specifications
Representing a new chapter in the brand’s illustrious story, the 2019 Volkswagen Teramont offers competitive levels of technology and spaciousness at a price tag that cannot be ignored. Drawing attention to itself despite competing in a crowded segment of the market, the Teramont excels in passenger and cargo volume, as well as everyday usability and utility.
Design and Dimensions
An evolution of the CrossBlue concept seen in 2013, the Teramont is built on the brand’s Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) architecture and stands at:
- Length: 5 meters
- Width: 1.9 meters
- Height: 1.7 meters
Its bold exterior is complemented by clean lines and full LED lighting that comes standard across the range.
Interior Comfort and Practicality
Andrew Savvas, Brand Director Volkswagen Middle East, stated: “Welcoming the Teramont to our market is a delight, as we are confident this car will be perfect for this location. Size matters, especially for families in this region, and this is exactly what we can deliver now. This year we have been busy ramping up our SUV range, and having this 7-seater now means we have a complete lineup in place and can offer the perfect car for every type of family.”
Flaunting one of the longest wheelbases in its class, the German SUV offers a cabin that is clean, comfortable, and most of all, functional. Practicality is evident with:
- 17 cupholders
- Multiple charging outlets
Those who wish to make the most of the three-row seating layout will enjoy a cargo capacity of 583 liters, which can be expanded to 2,741 liters with the second and third-row seats folded flat.
Safety Features
On the feature front, the Teramont is the only vehicle in its class to offer Automatic Post-Collision Braking as standard on all trims. The feature list is further extended with a range of standard and optional additions that include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Forward Collision Warning
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Traffic Alert
Engine Options and Performance
Available with two engine options, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, or a stronger 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6, the Teramont channels its power through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all four corners. The 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system is accompanied by a multi-terrain select that tweaks the ECU, steering, and transmission to suit:
- On-road
- Snow
- Off-road
- Custom Off-road driving
