W Motors Unveils the MUSE Autonomous Vehicle at the Shanghai Auto Show

Introduction

W Motors and Iconiq Motors have officially unveiled their fully autonomous MUSE vehicle at the Shanghai International Auto Show. The MUSE offers a unique futuristic travel experience, equipped with an advanced entertainment system, smart onboard services, an innovative interface with a wide display, and enhanced cloud computing connectivity.

Design and Technology

The large displays and four personal tablets provide individual connectivity through the "CEO.UX" user experience, which stands for "Comfort, Entertainment, and Office." This represents one of the best automotive experience offerings to date. The MUSE is also equipped with the latest electronic security and safety systems.

The design team at W Motors has crafted the MUSE entirely in-house. Every element of the MUSE, named after the Greek goddess of inspiration, aims to achieve a harmonious balance between science, art, automotive technology, and functional aesthetic design.

Features of the MUSE Vehicle

This next-generation mobility vehicle includes:

• Wide transparent surfaces and sleek, dynamic lines to enhance efficiency.
• A 3-meter wide gullwing door with a height for entry/exit exceeding 1.4 meters, the largest of its kind produced for a vehicle.
• The ability to transform the four-seat vehicle into a mobile meeting room via a conference mode.

The vehicle is designed to enrich the passenger experience with a wide range of tourism, business, and luxury services.

A team of global technology experts and visionary industry leaders such as AKKA Technologies, Magna Steyr, and Microsoft USA collaborated to bring this project to fruition. Production of the MUSE is set to begin in early 2020, in multiple phases, with a rollout planned over the coming years.

Future Vision

W Motors and Iconiq Motors aim to be pioneers in the future of driving in the region, with a global shift toward shared mobility, moving from human drivers to autonomous vehicles. The MUSE test fleet, developed in partnership with sister company Iconiq Motors, will begin testing on designated roads in Dubai starting during Expo 2020, with series production commencing in 2023.

Production Model of the Fenyr SuperSport

The production model of the Fenyr SuperSport was also unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show after its Asian debut on the road. The Fenyr SuperSport, showcased in polar white with distinctive golden accents, is the latest hypercar from W Motors, limited to just 110 units, including 10 launch editions.

The Fenyr SuperSport features rear-opening doors and an active aerodynamic system, thanks to its exterior design made from carbon fiber and extensive use of graphene composites. A specially developed RUF engine, a rear-mid-mounted twin-turbo flat-six with a 3.8-liter capacity, delivers an impressive 800 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of 400 km/h.

Lykan HyperSport

The first hypercar, the Lykan HyperSport, created by W Motors, was also showcased at the event. The legendary Lykan HyperSport made its debut in Universal Studios' Furious 7, where it starred prominently. With only seven cars produced, the Lykan HyperSport is a handcrafted masterpiece featuring a full carbon fiber chassis, a patented dual-direction door system, a jewel-encrusted key, diamond-encrusted headlights, and an innovative 3D interactive display.
