Dubai Police Guidelines in Case of Brake Failure
Dubai Police have issued guidelines for drivers in the event of brake failure while driving, following a series of similar incidents in the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries.
The guidelines were shared on Facebook, recommending that drivers immediately activate their hazard lights, shift to N (Neutral), and turn off the engine before restarting it.
If this method fails, the driver should firmly press the brakes until the vehicle begins to slow down and eventually come to a stop, or gradually use the handbrake until the vehicle halts.
Recommendations from Dubai Police
Here are the police recommendations:
- Turn on all hazard lights.
- Shift to N, turn off the engine, and restart it simultaneously.
- If the driver cannot shift to N, they should continuously apply the brakes firmly until the vehicle stops.
- If this attempt fails, gradually use the handbrake while firmly steering until the vehicle comes to a stop.
- If all previous attempts fail, shift from N to D continuously.
