Introduction to the Audi Q2
The Audi Q2 is Audi's first compact SUV, designed to compete in a segment dominated by many reasonably priced rivals. With its unique and youthful design, the Q2 rivals models like the Kia Soul and the recently launched Nissan Kicks.
Car Launch
The German vehicle was unveiled at a unique art event held at Amwaj Islands in Bahrain. The Q2 is the smallest crossover in Audi's lineup, sharing its chassis with the A3 sedan. Audi's MQB modular platform allows for cost and weight efficiency in the vehicle's design.
Features and Design
The event featured drawing sessions, beatbox artists, a Red Bull bar, and food decoration workshops, all adding to the vibrant atmosphere that mirrored the modern character of the Audi Q2 during its launch.
The new design of the vehicle, with its broad shoulders and distinctive polygonal shape, gives the compact SUV a look full of energy and confidence, complemented by a low roofline and high window line that evoke a coupe-like appearance.
Technology in the Audi Q2
On the technology front, the Q2 comes equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot, Audi's Virtual Cockpit displayed in front of the driver, a heads-up display (HUD), emergency braking assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and parking assistance systems.
Engine and Performance
The vehicle is powered by a 1.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine equipped with cylinder deactivation technology, producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Additionally, the car features a short front and rear overhang with a ground clearance of 15 cm.
Pricing and Availability
The starting price for the Audi Q2 is AED 155,000 for the 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine, with a more powerful 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder variant expected to join Audi's offerings soon.
