2018 Chevrolet Equinox: A Mid-Size Crossover Debuts in the Middle East
A prevalent nameplate in other parts of the world, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is the second best-selling model in the brand’s US lineup. This mid-size crossover is set to make its Middle Eastern debut this summer. In its third generation, the Equinox offers a familiar design, complemented by state-of-the-art safety features and a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines under its sloping hood.

Commenting on the vehicle’s introduction, Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand at Chevrolet Middle East said: “Equinox regional introduction reinforces Chevrolet’s competitive position in this segment and positions the brand well for the coming years with a mature, yet fresh line-up of crossovers; preceded with the refreshed 2017 Trax, and followed with the new generation 2018 Traverse later this year.”
Nearly 200kg lighter than its predecessor, the 2018 Equinox’s brawny exterior design is similar to that of the Trax but elongated for greater road presence. Exuding character, bold curves and prominent creases allow the Equinox to be far more appealing than its Japanese and American rivals, such as the Honda CR-V and Ford Escape.

Inside, the dual cockpit design is finished with high-quality materials, while a new flat-folding rear seat enhances functionality and enables easier loading of larger items. In addition to a MyLink infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Equinox is equipped with:
- Safety Alert Seat
- Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keeping Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Set to go on sale in September 2017, the Equinox aims to make a significant impact in its segment and is the first Chevrolet to welcome a 9-speed transmission to the region.
