First introduced in 1976, the Honda Accord is Honda's most popular model and has the longest production run after the Civic. It was also the first vehicle from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States, with global production surpassing 17.5 million units to date, making it the best-selling mid-size sedan in Honda's lineup.
Design and Performance of the 2021 Honda Accord
The 2021 Honda Accord features a lower, wider stance and a robust, single-piece body structure with an advanced lightweight chassis. Engines of the 2021 Honda Accord
The 2021 Accord retains two VTEC® turbocharged inline-4 engines:
- 1.5-liter turbo engine with 16 valves and 4 cylinders.
- 2.0-liter turbo DOHC engine with 16 valves and 4 cylinders.
Both new engines come with turbocharging and deliver peak torque across a wide range of RPMs.
Transmission in the 2021 Honda Accord
The 1.5-liter turbo engine is paired with Honda's continuously variable transmission (CVT) featuring G-Shift control. This engine produces 198 horsepower at 5500 RPM and 260 Nm of torque at 1600 - 5000 RPM.
The 2.0-liter turbo engine is paired with a smooth and responsive 10-speed automatic transmission designed by Honda, featuring a push-button gear selector, producing 247 horsepower at 6500 RPM and 370 Nm of torque at 1500 - 3500 RPM.
