Jeep will introduce the redesigned 2026 Grand Cherokee in a series of carefully thought-out updates that enhance its appearance, technology, and engines. Keeping none of its ruggedness, the new model will aim to deliver a smoother, more modern drive.
Easy but Effective Outside Overhauls
The 2026 Grand Cherokee receives a light refresh this time around, and it's on the front. Of note are new narrower LED headlights and a new seven-slot grille, now framed with a thick, notched trim for a more tech-savvy look. The new front bumper is refreshed with a mid-mounted intake and new air intakes, with more aggressive road presence.
Interior Enhancements and Technological Advancement
Inside, the Grand Cherokee is more organized and functional with a cleaner interior. The middle console is reduced in size, and there is a bigger infotainment screen that integrates climate control and other settings. Physical knobs remain for important controls, finding a balance between new touch screens and old-fashioned useability. Upper trims have luxury settings like woodgrain trim and ambient lighting, and the interior overall is more premium because of it.
Powertrain Evolution Emphasizing Efficiency
Under the hood, Jeep is ditching the old 3.6-liter V6 and 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engines. The 2026 will have a new 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine, which will probably produce about 300 horsepower. It's in addition to the work of making the cars more fuel-efficient and compliant with stricter emissions standards.
Also making a comeback will be the 4xe plug-in hybrid model, with a clean alternative that doesn't sacrifice performance. Jeep's shift towards electrification is being driven by wider industry momentum and consumer demand for environmentally friendly cars.
Continued Versatility and Off-Road Capability
The 2026 Grand Cherokee will continue to be offered in two-row and three-row (Grand Cherokee L) configurations to support varied family and towing needs. Though information on the Trailhawk trim will follow, it will return, and its off-road capability will continue to be the vehicle's hallmark.
Expected Launch Date
Production of the refreshed Grand Cherokee will continue to be at Jeep's Detroit Assembly Complex, with the vehicle arriving at dealers later this year. The price has not yet been announced, but the 2025 model starts at $36,495, so expect the 2026 Grand Cherokee to start from north of this number.
