Sales Growth of Audi in the Middle East
Dubai, January 22, 2013 - Since establishing its representative office in the Middle East, Audi, the prestigious German automotive brand, has experienced a steady increase in sales within the region. In 2012, Audi Middle East achieved a record sales growth of 16.4%, delivering 9,155 vehicles to customers.
Audi's Future Strategy
Audi's strategy in the region is now focused on enhancing both the quality and quantity of sales and after-sales service, following the appointment of Trevor Hill as the new Managing Director of Audi Middle East. This strategic direction aims to support the growth objective of selling 20,000 Audi vehicles annually by 2020 in Middle Eastern markets.
"Audi is currently the fastest-growing German luxury automotive brand in the Middle East," said Trevor Hill. He further outlined the company's goals for 2013:
- Strengthening the sales infrastructure and after-sales service centers.
- Launching seven major projects with partners in the region.
- Implementing training programs to ensure high-quality after-sales service.
- Establishing a systematic approach to ensure qualification and training levels for all sales and service staff and managers.
Audi Sales in the United Arab Emirates
Audi sales in the UAE accounted for 41% of total sales in the Middle East, with 3,819 vehicles sold, marking an increase of 21.7%. This makes the UAE the largest market for Audi in the region, followed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, with:
- 1,918 vehicles sold in Saudi Arabia (up 26.0%).
- 1,279 vehicles sold in Kuwait (up 20.7%).
Overall, Audi recorded record sales in the Middle Eastern markets, except in Syria, where all operations were suspended. The Qatari market has recently appointed a new dealer for Audi.
New Audi Models
It is noteworthy that the German manufacturer with the four rings launched several new models last year, including:
- Audi A4 and A5 in their various trims.
- The compact-sized Audi Q3 crossover.
- The sporty S series.
Additionally, 1,738 and 1,730 Audi vehicles from the large sedan categories C and D, namely the A6 and A8 L, were sold respectively, making them the best-selling models in the region. The UAE market held the largest share of sales for these luxury vehicles, accounting for 36% of total sales for both models in the region.
Future Growth for Audi
The C and D categories of SUVs recorded close sales figures, with 1,349 Audi Q5 and 1,596 Audi Q7 sold. In terms of growth, the Audi A6 leads with a notable 54.1%, followed by its larger counterpart, the A8 L, at 17.1%, and the Q5 at 10.8%, while demand for the Q7 remains stable.
This year will see a new range of Audi models arriving in the region, including:
- Audi RS 4 Avant.
- The R8 model series.
- Audi RS 5 Cabriolet.
