Audi E-Tron: The All-Electric SUV Unveiling
The Rise of Electric Vehicles
The electric vehicle space, which had been dominated by Tesla for years on end, is starting to see entries from German heavyweights such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi. While the Mercedes-Benz EQC made a bold statement at the start of the month, Audi’s full electric E-Tron SUV is out to steal the limelight with its global unveiling set for 18th September 2018 at 07:30 (GST).
Performance and Specifications
Based on previous announcements, the Audi E-Tron is armed with a 95-kWh battery pack and two electric motors generating a total output of 430 horsepower. Matching the numbers of several performance SUVs, the E-Tron takes less than six seconds to hit 100 km/h from a standstill and flaunts a top speed of over 200 km/h.
Charging and Range
Taking on the Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, and the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the Audi E-Tron uses an intelligent regenerative braking system to deliver up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. Beating the current record holder Tesla, the E-Tron’s batteries can also be charged from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes when using a fast charger, making a stronger case for EV adoption.
A New Era for Audi
Marking the start of a new era, the Audi E-Tron, with its flexible architecture, allows the German brand to consider EVs in several segments and numerous categories.
