After countless spy shots and rumors, it is finally here! Presenting, the officially official successor to the Bugatti Veyron – the mighty Chiron. There hasn’t been any car in recent memory that’s been hyped as much as this car. After all, the Veyron has that iconic status in the world of automotive when it became the fastest production car ever produced in the world.
Coming to the Chiron, first things first, the Chiron is capable of reaching 261 mph as per Bugatti. Bear in mind, the Veyron Super Sport touched the top speed of 267.8 mph which is the world record currently. Bugatti will never create something slower than the predecessor so we will have to wait and watch what the car can do in reality. As per rumors, it can reach a top speed of 288 mph – something we are ready to believe.
On the other hand, Bugatti does confirm that the Chiron will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds – which means it is definitely faster than the Veyron SS in acceleration. The 0-200 km/h takes less than 6.5 seconds and 0-300 in less than 13.6 seconds. These figures make the Chiron faster than Laferrari, P1 and 918. However, it is slower than the Koenigsegg One:1 which clocked 300 km/h in less than 12 seconds. But since it is limited to only 6 units so it doesn’t make the One:1 a proper production car.
The Chiron’s power is generated once again by the 8.0 liter W16 quad-turbocharged engine. But this time the engine is tuned to produce a whopping 1500 BHP and 1600 Nm of torque. All of this torque is available from 2000 revs. It is still using the all-wheel-drive platform. The engine is mated to a 7 speed gearbox. The transmission has the largest clutch ever produced for a car.
The car is built using carbon fiber everywhere. It has an airbag that can shoot through the carbon fiber, LED headlights and driving mode selector – a world’s first. The interior is minimalistic and clean. The infotainment system and the a/c control are kept separate to keep the dash slim. The speedometer reads top speed of 500 km/h which coincidently is the number of units produced. Yes, the Chiron will be limited to 500 units in entirety and that includes drop-top and various special editions. The starting price is 2.4 million euros and we will get to see these units on the road by end of this year.
