The Importance of Vehicle Care in Summer

Hyundai has provided important advice for car owners across the region about the significance of taking care of their vehicles as temperatures rise during the summer months. Proper maintenance can help avoid major issues while driving.

Hyundai’s Recommendations

Drivers should exercise extreme caution by taking some time to inspect their vehicles and prepare adequately for summer trips, especially as temperatures continue to soar. Hyundai has shared 11 valuable tips for safer driving, which will also help protect cars and extend their lifespan.

Comments from Hyundai's Vice President

Bang Soon-jung, Vice President and Head of Operations for the Middle East and Africa at Hyundai, stated: "We understand at Hyundai the importance of caring for our customers during the summer. Therefore, our team of experienced technicians has shared a list of vital tips that enhance customer safety on the roads, ensuring everyone enjoys smooth journeys and safe driving, regardless of the temperature."

Driving Challenges in Summer

He added, "Customers throughout the Middle East and Africa face driving difficulties due to the heat and humidity during the summer, with temperatures sometimes reaching nearly 50 degrees Celsius. Their struggles are compounded if regular vehicle maintenance is neglected."

11 Tips for Safe Driving

  1. Engine Care

Vehicles typically run hotter in the summer, so engine systems require thorough checks. This includes examining the engine oil; if it appears dark, it’s time for an oil change and filter replacement. Hyundai recommends changing the engine oil every 10,000 kilometers, but in challenging driving conditions, it’s advisable to change it every 5,000 kilometers. Also, check the coolant levels and the cooling fan.

  2. Tire Pressure

Always check the air pressure in all tires before any trip. Properly inflated tires help prevent issues related to low tire pressure or tire blowouts.

  3. Air Conditioning System

High summer temperatures can lead to problems if the air conditioning system is not functioning properly. Ensure it is repaired as needed.

  4. Battery

Extreme heat can drain battery power. Check and test the battery to assess its capacity.

  5. Sun Shades

Use high-quality sun shades to protect your dashboard and steering wheel from sun damage.

  6. Exterior Waxing

Wax your vehicle to protect the exterior paint. This will help maintain its like-new appearance.

  7. Fluid Checks

Ensure sufficient levels of fluids such as engine oil, brake fluid, and transmission fluid. Replace the oil if it appears dark.

  8. Air Filters

Inspect the cabin air filter to improve air quality inside the vehicle.

  9. Avoid Leaving Flammable Materials Inside

Avoid leaving flammable items inside the vehicle, such as hand sanitizers and perfumes.

  10. Emergency Kit

Ensure an emergency kit is available in the car, including a mobile phone charger.

  11. Windshield Wipers

Replace old or cracked wipers for better visibility during summer storms.
