Corporate responsibility comes in all shapes and sizes, and if you’re revered Italian auto manufacturer Ferrari, it’s definitely got to be a little unique, a little out of the ordinary. In a recent statement, Ferrari has confirmed that it will build one final LaFerrari and place it for auction, with all proceeds going to those affected by the catastrophic earthquake that hit Italy.

Sergio Marchionne, Chairman and Chief Executive at Ferrari, said “This extra LaFerrari will push the production run from the original 499 units to 500, and once built, will be auctioned off to aid earthquake victims”.
The earthquake which hit Italy a little over a week ago, has left thousands injured, towns ruined, and seen the death toll surpass 240 individuals in mountainous regions such as Amatrice, Accumoli, and Pescara del Tronto.

While it is an admirable and honorable act, it isn’t the first time Ferrari has extended the production cycle of a limited-edition model. In fact, the Enzo built to honor Pope John Paul II, was sold to an American collector and has gone on to becoming the world’s most valuable Enzo with a price tag of $6.05 million (AED 22,222,550).
Good job, Ferrari! A tip of the hat for leading by example.
