INFINITI Unveils Project Black S: An Innovative Electric Vehicle
Introduction to Project Black S
As part of its strategy to produce electric vehicles starting in 2021, INFINITI has unveiled a new prototype called "Project Black S" in Paris, highlighting its commitment to utilizing dual-hybrid electric engine technology inspired by the world of Formula One in road cars.
Design and Technologies
Following the design study of "Project Black S" in 2017, the new prototype emphasizes the brand's commitment to developing exciting and high-performance electric engines, leveraging the extensive expertise provided by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.
Technical Specifications
The prototype "Project Black S" combines high-performance dual-hybrid engine technology with a twin-turbo VR30 six-cylinder engine boasting a capacity of 3.0 liters, which has won numerous awards. The Energy Recovery System (ERS) contributes to generating greater power and torque compared to the engine previously used in the vehicle. The dual-hybrid electric technology produces 420 kW, equating to 563 horsepower (or 571 PS), while the conventional VR30 engine generates 298 kW (400 horsepower / 405 PS). The power-to-weight ratio is estimated at 235 W/kg, achieving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds.
