Sharjah's Digital Scanning Vehicle Revolutionizes Parking Monitoring
Introduction
Residents and visitors of Sharjah are set to have their public parking spaces monitored digitally in a move to help inspection teams around the emirate. Unveiled at the ongoing UAE Innovation Month at Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah Municipality acquired the first-of-its-kind digital scanning vehicle that can monitor up to 3,000 cars per hour and track if they have paid for parking or not.
Benefits of the Digital Scanning Vehicle
Believed to resolve parking issues in the emirate, the new vehicle will save plenty of time and effort for inspection teams in Sharjah. The green and white Smart ForTwo is equipped with numerous cameras and sensors and will be deployed across all areas over the next few weeks. The monitoring vehicle complements the human effort of inspectors by:
- Monitoring existing violations
- Providing data and statistics on parking positions
- Tracking parking times and rates of use of various means of payment
