Maserati GT2: A Jewel of Handling and Performance
Maserati’s resurgence continues with the carmaker entering the final rounds of the Fanatec GT European Series with the GT2. And just look at it, the GT2 looks wild.
Performance and Specifications
The GT2 is essentially a single-seater MC20, built to comply with GT2 regulations, pumping a whopping 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque from the 3.0-liter, twin-turbo Nettuno V6 engine. The engine is paired with a six-speed, sequential gearbox featuring paddle shifters and a motorsport-spec clutch. Additionally, it comes with air conditioning, ensuring the driver stays cool during intense races.
Driver Features
The driver will also have access to a 6.5-inch dashboard display and an adjustable racing pedal box and steering column. Customers willing to purchase the GT2 can also opt for additional features, including:
- Passenger seat
- Rearview camera
- Tire pressure monitoring system
Mechanical Enhancements
Mechanical changes include:
- Limited-slip mechanical self-locking differential developed for racing use
- Forged 18-inch center-lock wheels
- Two-way adjustable dampers for both axles
Aerodynamic Design
While the composite body of the GT2 resembles the MC20, Maserati engineers have diligently worked to enhance its aerodynamics and improve cooling. The GT2 features a massive rear wing, canards on the front bumper, newly designed hoods with extra vents, and a splitter as part of its extreme aero package.
Maserati states that the GT2 is “a jewel of handling, driveability, and performance.”
Upcoming Events
After racing in Belgium during the 24 Hours of Spa, the GT2 will enter its first full season in the Fanatec GT European Series in 2024.
