Introduction
Car enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the beginning of each year to witness the most significant auto shows held worldwide. From the Detroit Auto Show, renowned as one of the most important in the world, to Chicago, Geneva, and Shanghai, automakers unveil their latest models for the new year.
Launch of the Volvo XC40
In a surprising move, the Swedish company Volvo announced that it would not unveil its XC40 at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show in February, opting instead to debut it for the first time at the Shanghai Auto Show in April.
Volvo XC40 Engine Options
The Volvo XC40 will be manufactured in China and will offer three engine options:
- 1.5-liter / 3-cylinder producing approximately 180 horsepower
- 2.0-liter turbocharged / 4-cylinder producing approximately 240 horsepower
- 1.5-liter plug-in hybrid producing approximately 254 horsepower
Competing with the Range Rover Evoque
While the XC40 is poised to outperform its rival, the Range Rover Evoque, the designers of the Evoque must put in extra effort to create a remarkable and stylish vehicle that can compete with the new Swedish model.
The Auto Show and Its Impact
Although the Shanghai Auto Show may not be as large as other global auto exhibitions, the unveiling of the XC40 alongside the new Mini Countryman will make the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show distinct and beyond expectations.
