Holder of the world’s most expensive number plate and prominent businessman, Saeed Al Khouri, spent a whopping AED 52,200,000 to secure Abu Dhabi’s number ‘1’ plate. Determined to take home the distinguished plate number, Saeed won the plate after a furious contest in the final stages, where he ended up doubling the previous world record held by his cousin Talal Ali Mohammad Khouri.

Talk of the town, Dubai’s ‘D 5’ number plate which sold for an astonishing AED 33,000,000 is a part of Balwinder Sahani’s collection of unique number plates. Owner of property management company RSG International, Sahani has gone on to become somewhat of a local celebrity and is frequently spotted out and about in his ‘D 5’ embellished Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Eighteen times greater than the reserve price for the number plate is what Emirati business man Arif Al Zarouni had to shell out to win Sharjah’s number one plate. Following securing the number in June 2016, he was quoted as saying: “I attended the licence plate auction only to win Number 1. My ambition is always to be number 1. I have no plan to win other numbers.”
