Official Launch of the Fourth Generation Toyota Prius in the UAE
Al-Futtaim Motors, the exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, invited the entire UAE media to a fun-filled event for the official launch of the fourth generation Toyota Prius. The event began with Mr. Gaydzag Terterian greeting the media members at the Media One hotel and handing them the keys to the new Prius for a short drive.
Event Details
The drive started from the hotel to Jumeirah Beach Residence for a total duration of less than 10 minutes. It lasted more than 10 minutes for me because I was initially having trouble finding the parking brake in the car as it is a very small lever tucked in behind the steering console. Once the engine started, then it was all smooth sailing through Dubai traffic towards JBR. Moreover, the interior is so quiet that I could hear myself breathe.
Eco-Friendly Activities
Once we reached the center of JBR, we were greeted by valets who guided us to the venue. The whole Prius experience comprised of ECO-friendly activities such as:
- Inhaling ‘pure oxygen’
- Cycling to understand CO2 emissions and their harmful effects on humans
These activities emphasized how we can save the environment by choosing the right options. Moreover, we had a chance to meet the new Senior Managing Director Mr. Bertrand Thiebaut at the event for an introduction on behalf of the local media. Finally, after meet-and-greet sessions, it was time for the highlight of the day – the launch speech.
Launch Speech Highlights
Saud Abbasi, the ex-Managing Director of Lexus, has now taken control of Toyota at Al-Futtaim Motors. He had this to say:
“Introducing the Toyota Prius in the UAE is a gigantic step forward in empowering the drive for a more sustainable environment. In line with the UAE Government’s vision for a greener future, Al-Futtaim Motors is proud to be leading the positive change with this new addition to the Toyota family. Converting the kinetic energy generated from braking into electricity, the car requires no external charging, making it one of the next immediate motoring solutions for the rising environmental issues in the region.”
Abbasi added: “We predict that the 4th generation Prius, which now enjoys a bolder design, groundbreaking environmental performance, and a fun-to-drive spirit, will appeal to young trendsetters who want everything that is new and cool, with the added benefit of being environmentally ethical and brimming with technology that does not confuse.”
