There has been a noticeable increase in traffic congestion on alternative routes between Dubai and Sharjah since the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) installed two new Salik gates on Sheikh Zayed Road and the Airport Tunnel.

Complaints from Residents

Residents of affected areas, such as:

• Al Tawaar
• Awir Al Muteena

are expressing their concerns regarding this issue.

Causes of Traffic Congestion

The RTA implemented these new gates to reduce traffic congestion on Sheikh Zayed Road and the Airport Tunnel, but the result has been increased traffic on other streets, including:

• Beirut Street
• Damascus Street
• Doha Street

The new gates became operational on April 15, with a toll of 4 dirhams for those passing through.
